Baby Sweater Set Crochet Pattern

And here's a baby set pattern for the crochet enthusiast!  This sweet little set includes bonnet, booties, sweater and blanket.  This pattern is also sized for the six month old infant and would make a lovely set for a newborn baby.

This pattern came from the same vintage pattern book that the last sweater set pattern came from.

The instructions:

The last posting, which included the baby sweater set knit pattern, contains the helpful "General Instruction" sheet at the end that will benefit both the knitter and crocheter.  Check it out for help with abbreviations and information regarding blocking, dye lots and more.  I hope you enjoy these lovely, baby set patterns, as beautiful today as they were years ago!

Now, let me see what else I can find in my vintage pattern book collection.....  happy stitching!

Baby Sweater Set Knit Pattern

Today I have something for both the knitter and the crocheter.  First, the knitter.  Pouring through my vintage pattern books, I came across this sweet little knit baby's set.  It's a pretty set, easy to execute, with a dainty cable motif.  The pattern is for an infant of about six months and is for a bonnet, sweater and mittens.

Here are the instructions:

These general instructions apply to this knitting pattern as well as the crochet pattern that's coming up next:

Children's Motifs for Cross Stitch or Filet Crochet

Just like I promised, here are some more vintage cross stitch or filet crochet patterns from some of my wonderful vintage pattern books circa 1920s.  These adorable patterns were originally designed for a handmade rug and a child's chair cover, but they could be used for any number of things.  They are mostly animal motifs and remind me of a circus theme and I have to say, they're pretty dang cute!  Here you go:

Monkey:

Bear:

Duck:

Puppy dog:

Elephant:

 Boys:

Flower motif:

Girls:

Kitty cat:

Pony or horse:

 Deer:

Sheep:

Stork:

Alphabet:

These vintage animal and alphabet patterns would look great incorporated into a baby's sampler, stitched onto a baby bib, filet crocheted onto a baby pillow, you could cross stitch onto a gingham dress or toddler's apron.  Really, there are so many things you could do with these cute, retro cross stitch or filet crochet patterns.  Have fun stitching!

Glamorous 1930s Evening Gown Knitting Pattern

I was looking through a vintage copy of "Minerva Style Book" dated 1934 and was struck by this beautiful gown.  The gown is called "Alora" and is so elegant and tasteful that it would be just as glamorous today as it was in the 1930s.

In addition to the gown, there is a coordinating evening jacket that can be made in the same color or a contrasting color as shown in the illustration below.

The size is listed as 16 to 18 but that was 1930s sizing, not the same as today's measurements.  The finished gown would probably be a medium sized fit.

Here's the pattern for those who want to create this spectacular gown:

The vintage Minerva Style Book has several classic ladies patterns to knit and crochet.  This gown was just too special to not share!  Enjoy this free ladies fashion pattern and get stitching!
